First Beech Mountain/Lees McCrae Race teaser photos

12 Jul

Heres 3 of the 914 photos I took this weekend. The race went off very well with a good weather, great tracks, and a ton of riders.

I’m still sorting through pics, but look back soon for more photos, some video and a write-up!

Blog Intro: Welcome to the Summer of Shred!

12 Jul

So here you are, summerofshred.wordpress.com

There’s a good chance you’re wondering why you’re here. The answer to that is probably fairly simple. I’d be willing to bet you’re bored at work and jonesing for your two-wheeled fix so you hit up one of your favorite mountain bike forums, blogs, or news sites, saw a link to this site and, not quite ready to return to your cubicle, sales floor, or mechanics bench, you clicked on over. Welcome.

Now that you’re here, you’re doubtlessly wondering what the hell is this? That ones a bit tougher.

This will not be a blog. I am not a blogger. I’m certainly not cool enough for that, and I definitely don’t have enough time to comb the internet looking for other people’s original work and race to link to them before anyone else does (that would cut to far into my riding time). If you see non-original content on here I promise you it will not be without a decent amount of commentary or analysis from me (not that you necessarily wanna read that, but I’m not going to just be posting other people’s material). This is all about original content.

This will not be a global mountain bike news site. I’m not gonna be keeping track of the international race scene,  or keep you up to date on Cam McCaul’s sunscreen sponsors. I’m only one guy, and while I’m ambitious, its not feasible for me to cover all this stuff first hand, and again, the goal here is original content.

This will not be a ride diary, random thoughtless ramblings, or snapshots from my weekly ride. I’m taking a much more serious approach to this. The content you see on here will not be done hastily, with a heavy focus put on quality rather than quantity. Because of this, you can count on everything you see here to be good, interesting, or at the very least potentially worth watching.

This will be something different. This will be a blog, this will be a news site, and this will be a ride diary, but it will be so much more than that.

This is me making a go at it. As a cyclist, as a photographer, as a videographer, and as a writer, this is me trying to smash them all together. I doubt the intersection of all this will be pretty at first, but progress is the point, so check back often and let me know how you think I’m doing.

Thanks for stopping by, and remember–Rubber Side Down,

Alex
